Hand for hand play has begun with six minutes remaining in Level 18. There will be two minutes run off the clock for every hand until a player is eliminated. At that point, everyone will earn at least $2,613 for the min-cash.
Macartney came into Day 2 with 348.5k but quickly worked himself to the top of the standings. He started Level 18 with 1.05M, just over 120 big blinds, and in excellent shape with the money bubble approaching.
Macartney is a Parx tournament regular and he has already put together a nice year with seven cashes including a win in the Saturday $200 Daily for $8,372. In total, Macartney has ~$172k in career earnings with a high score of $24,833. He will be looking for his first Big Stax Main Event cash and potentially a shot at beating his previous best score should he find himself in contention on Day 3.
Two levels are in the books on Day 2 and the field will be just eight eliminations away from the money.
Lenny Kushnirsky and Tony Tonzelli came into Day 2 with the chip-lead and after two hours they stay in the top two spots. Here is a look at the standings:
Cards are in the air for Day 2 play with 93 players returning plus any additional entries over the first hour of play. The field is now heading into the final level of Day 1B with action still going on ten tables. Day 1B chip counts and Day 2 seating will be posted by 3 AM.
Day 2 begins at 11 AM tomorrow morning in the Main Building. Head to the Big Stax XXV 1100 Hub for links to the schedule, structure, and Day 1A chip counts.
Leventhal just moved over 400k after getting involved in a crazy hand which would see him scoop the pot with Ten-high.
Three players saw a flop of 4♠6♠K♦ and the action started with a 25k bet which was called by Leventhal. The third player moved all-in forcing the original bettor out (J♠9♠) and Leventhal would make the call. Leventhal held 10♠8♠ against 5♠7♠ and the board bricked out for the open-ended straight flush draw and Leventhal won without improving.
Leventhal is just over $500k in lifetime winnings and will be going for his 2nd Big Stax Main Event Final Table. He finished 8th in the 1500 Main Event at Big Stax XVII, taking home $12,573 for his run.
Three more levels before the bags are out at ~11:30 PM. Lenny Kushnirsky holds the chip-lead with ~500k. There are two new faces that round out the Top 3:
Michael Matrone, Day 1B Level 13
Matrone is in 2nd place with ~430k. He has just over $290k in live earnings and will be in search of his first big score at the Big Stax series. Matrone’s best run came in the WPTDeepstacks 1500 Main Event in February 2016 where he finished 24th for $7,573.
JR Marquette, Day 1B Level 13
Marquette rounds out the Top 3 with ~390k. He has ~$72k in career cashes but has only cashed here at Parx a couple of times with his best run being a 111th in the 300 Main Event a couple years ago. Marquette will start the final three levels in excellent position to find a bag and potentially find himself making a Day 2 run.
