1st Place – Max Young $120,930
2nd Place- Mike Lavenburg $90,000
3rd Place – Vinny Pahuja $85,000
The three remaining players hashed out a three-way chop and Young takes the title after having a significant chip-lead over the other two players. Young got it in very early at the Final Table with a flush draw against Mike Lavenburg’s top-pair and made his hand on the end to stay alive. After that, it was nothing but steady progress for Young who continued to grow his stack until the deal was reached.
Mike Lavenburg had a much more chaotic Final Table and found himself in both 1st and last position at various stages. He won a critical hand with AQo against Chris Horter’s 4x4x when play was four handed and after that he hung on until Horter was eliminated and Level 31 came to an end.
Vinny Pahuja was at the top of the leader-board early in the day but was very card dead throughout the session. He navigated his short-stack perfectly during Final Table play and made a critical fold to just an open raise with 9x9x that would have cost him his tournament had he decided to play. Pahuja ends the event with the shortest stack which is consistent with his struggles throughout the Final Table.
Here’s a look at the final chip-counts:
