Berger wasted no time chipping up during Level 13 and is now working with ~525k during Level 14. He is in an excellent seat as well with Ruslan Arstanaliyev on his immediate right with the same size stack and potential for a huge confrontation at some point in the last hour and a half of play.
Berger has ~$50k in career winnings but has only had one cash since 2015. He has a few cashes in the Big Stax series but no Final Tables. His return to action could certainly be sweetened by a deep run this weekend and with a Day 2 appearance on the horizon, it could be in the cards for Berger.
Jim “Bagels” Lillis is a tournament regular and has worked his way up into the top of the standings late in Day 1C with ~340k. He has ~$367k in career earnings but is looking for a major score on the year. Lillis has had some close calls with a 13th in the Borgata Open Kickoff Event for $11,653 last month, and a 15th in the Big Stax 1100 for $5,485 in May. He is certainly a threat to breakthrough and make a Final Table and so far is doing better than most of the field.
