A 3-bet pot between Henry Meacham and Mike Lavenburg gives an opportunity to look at a fairly new tournament rule here at Parx.

Meacham opened in the hijack to 205k and was 3-bet to 525k by Lavenburg on the button. The blinds folded and Meacham called to take the flop heads-up.

Meacham took a stab on the end with a bet of 850k. Lavenburg called and Meacham decided to muck his cards as he considered he could not be good. In the past, Lavenburg would have had to show to win the pot but recently that rule has been changed. Instead, Lavenburg mucked his cards as well and won the pot of 3.05M without a showdown.

The rule change is based on obtaining information. Since the bettor was called and chose not to reveal information about his hand to the table, it is now considered unfair that the caller must reveal information about their own holding.
