Ebenezer Devasahayam, Day 3 Level 31

The first of the two critical hands was picked up on the turn with the board reading 8♥8♦10♣6♥. How the two players got to this point is certainly a mystery considering the hands and the positions. Simmons was in the small blind and would be acting first against Devasahayam, who was under the gun. Simmons led out for 900k and was called.

River: 6♦

Simmons gathered a bet of 2.1M and after a few agonizing moments Devasahayam made the call while asking if he had the Eight. Simmons did not table an Eight and instead showed the A♦A♠. Devasahayam was happy to see that holding as he tabled the A♥6♠ for a runner-runner win.

On the very next hand, Simmons would once again be playing a big pot. Steven McCullough open shoved for 1.6M and was isolated by Simmons for ~2.5M total. The blinds folded out and they revealed the flip.

Simmons A♦K♣ vs McCullough 10♥10♣ Pot: ~3.5M

Board: Q♥9♣6♣7♥7♣

McCullough holds with the pair and Simmons is left with ~900k after the encounter.
