Torriero was at 650k after the first level but has been fighting towards the bottom of the standings for the better part of two levels. He finally caught the break he needed to establish himself in the pack.
Torriero opened to 250k from middle position and was 3-bet to 650k but Joe Palma on the button. Boris Kromas was in the small blind and jammed ~4.5M as a 4-bet into both players and receieved a call from only Torriero for 2.07M.
Torriero Q♣Q♠ vs Kromas A♣A♦ Pot: ~5M
Torriero spiked a Queen on the turn to come from behind and is now in excellent shape with 30 minutes remaining in Level 29.
Some observations from the last half hour of action. Bin Weng holds a size-able chip advantage now that Joe Cashen has lost about 2/3rds of his leading stack during this level. Lisa Pickell is currently grinding the shortest stack in the room with less than 600k and will be under pressure to find a double soon. Derek Staib, Joe Cervera, and Tom McMahon have been the main beneficiaries of Cashen’s downswing as the field remains tight throughout.
