The field is approaching the first re-draw of the event at 27 players. There will be three more full levels with chip counts after each one before the bags come out. Play would stop if the Final Table is reached, but is an unlikely scenario.
Matt Mendez is going for his 4th Big Stax cash this year after putting in a min-cash last week as well as cashes in the Big Stax 2500 and 1500 back in February. The biggest of those three scores was his 11th place finish in the WPTDeepstacks 1500 Main Event for $12,732. The former Big Stax 2500 Main Event champ sure knows how to navigate this structure and after being below 200k for the majority of the day, Mendez is now just shy of 1M.
Mendez sits at one of the toughest spots in the room with Kevin Grabel, Adam White, and Mike Linster to his left. Jim Lillis and Sundiata DeVore are on his right. All of these guys will be eagerly awaiting the re-draw to perhaps find easier spots among the Final 27.
