Varkonyi Makes an Appearance

Robert Varkonyi, Day 1D Level 6

Robert Varkonyi certainly considers himself a recreational player now but he has put his stamp on poker history by becoming the 2002 WSOP Main Event Champion. That score earned him $2M of his $2.3M in career earnings and came just before the poker boom that made today’s field possible.

Varkonyi put up two cashes in 2016, one at the WSOP in a $1k event and another at Foxwoods in a $600 Event totaling $4,700 in earnings. In search of his first cash here at Parx, he is still working with less than a starting stack but has plenty of time to spin it up and find a bag for Day 2.
