Steve Ricchini takes the lead after the first six levels with 178k. Ricchini has just over $7k in career earnings and hasn’t cashed since 2014. He does have experience here at the Big Stax however, with his last two cashes being in the 300 Main Event. His best finish was 98th for $800 but he is off to an excellent start this weekend and will hopefully get a chance to make a deeper run than his previous attempts.
Jesse Pusey is right on Ricchini’s heels with 175k heading into 300/600, just shy of 300 big blinds. Pusey has $24k in live earnings with his best score coming in October 2015. He finished 2nd in the Mid-Atlantic Poker Championship for $10,179. Pusey’s start here in Day 1C gives him a better chance than most at making a deep run this weekend and adding another 5-digit score to his resume.
Lawrence Cowsar rounds out the top three with 174k. Cowsar has $14k in live earnings with the major portion of it coming from two WSOP events in 2008-2009. He has been playing recently though, having just notched a cash at the WPTDeepstacks event in Maryland. He just missed out on a final table in a $330 PLO 6-max tournament, taking 11th for $568.
